Clicking on a site opens a pop-up window with additional information, including the bathing water’s name, coordinates, a link to its national bathing water profile, and its quality classification.

The quality status of the bathing waters is based on two microbiological parameters (Escherichia coli and Intestinal enterococci) as set out in Directive 2006/7/EC, Article 5 and Annexes I and II. The quality status describes the microbiological quality of water, provided that enough samples are available, as established in Directive 2006/7/EC, Article 4(3). Bathing waters can achieve one of four quality classes: "Excellent", "Good," "Sufficient," or "Poor." If there are not enough samples available for quality classification, the status "Not classified" is applied. The historical data, listed in the pop-up window which opens by clicking on bathing water site, includes the bathing water quality classification for the past eleven years (2015-2025), where available.

|
